Arizona Ophthalmological Society Benefits
Government Relations One of the primary purposes of the Arizona Ophthalmological Society (AOS) is to represent the interests of its members before government. Society membership provides the representation necessary to influence federal and state legislation and regulators. The society is actively involved in such issues as expansion of optometry into medical practice, laser surgery, and patient advocacy.
Educational Opportunities The society holds an annual scientific meeting which offers CME to our members at no charge. Click here for more information about our upcoming meeting.
Insurance Discounts AOS members who are also Ophthalmic Mutual Insurance Company (OMIC) policy holders are eligible to receive up to a 8% risk management premium discount per year.
Third Party Payor Relations The society has a representative who sits on the Medicare Carrier Advisory Committee which addresses issues relating to Medicare and other third party payor matters.
American Academy of Ophthalmology The society has representation in the form of a councilor to the American Academy of Ophthalmology. This representative can express the needs and interests of local members and affect national eye care policy.
Committee Involvement AOS members are invited and encouraged to participate in the society committee structure. Committee involvement provides direct experience with issues that determine the overall success of the society.
Professional Camaraderie Perhaps the greatest benefit of society membership is the professional sharing at meetings and other functions.
